BUSINESS IS CLOSED! Had reservations for this evening. Tried all week to reach them. Usually their voicemail was full but was able to leave a message a couple times. Also sent a text and an email. All with no response. Still showed up and gate was locked. There was a car on the property but didn't see anyone and no one answered when I called out.
This place is a gem...if you are ever in the Auburn area, stay with Innkeeper Alfred Lee at the Powers Mansion. He's a classically trained chef who dazzled us w/his breakfast each morning as well as entertained us with the amazing stories about his life. The mansion was built in the 1800's and has 16 rooms all decorated with antiques and individual charm...we loved our stay and will be back next year.
Best breakfasts we have ever had at a bed and breakfast. Our room was a little old and outdated, but it was a house from the late 1800's so what do we expect?would definitely stay here again.
This place is probably the greatest secret in Auburn, CA and if the innkeeper Alfred wasn't such an amazing host I would likely have wanted to keep this secret to myself. My GF and I took the honeymoon suite for her birthday and went to an escape room in Rocklin, CA, 15 minutes away. Right from the very start the innkeeper, Alfred, made us feel welcome and introduced us to the sweetest and most friendly dog, Sasperilla. After being loved and petted we took the tour of the interior of the mansion and we were stunned to see so much history of Auburn preserved on it's walls and in the architecture. Truly, it is the most unique place to be turned into an Inn I have ever seen. The beds were made, clean sheets and the jakuzi and pool table in the honeymoon suite were the absolute best for entertainment. The Innkeeper provided firewood for the fireplace as well as pre-charred wood for easier lighting. Breakfast was handmade by the Inn Keeper, including the best savory and sweet collection as well as inexhaustible brewed coffee and orange juice. I can't overstate this enough: It was worth every single penny of the price to stay here. 10/10 we are going back the next time we are even remotely in the area.
