20 Main Tavern - Au Sable Forks

This is the epitome of your local townie bar, in all the best ways. I was up here for a couple days over Memorial Day and happened to pass this place on the way to get charcoal on Ausable's main drag. I figured I'd stop in and have a beverage, and when I walked in, I was amazed to see they had a full size shuffleboard table with working albeit old scoreboard. Joy! I also enjoyed a great selection of beers on tap while 'boarding, including goose island, and the locally brewer, lake placid brewery. The regulars were quite friendly and answered all the questions we had about where to go and things to do in the area. Definitely check it out if you're ever in Northern New York.

Absolutely terrible disgusting hygiene not recommended

This is an excellent tavern that features live bands, an outdoor patio, a pool table, a dartboard, a shuffleboard, and much more. It has a very welcoming atmosphere.

If you're within 30 miles of this place and don't stop by, you're missing out! This spot feels like it's straight out of an old-timey movie depicting small-town America, showcasing all the best aspects—delicious drinks, affordable prices, and most importantly, friendly and inviting people both at the bar and behind it. We visited on a Saturday night around 9 PM, and while the crowd was mostly locals—about five or six—they greeted us with warmth and kindness. Coming from Manhattan, I can confidently say I've never witnessed a bar full of people get up and dance and have as much fun as these folks did. Even my companion and I had locals come over to chat with us like we were old friends. Just a heads up, though—if they say there's live music, don't arrive at 9 PM expecting to see it, as the band has likely already packed up by then!

This is the best local bar! The new owners have done a fantastic job with the renovations. They host live music every Friday night, acoustic performances on Saturday afternoons, and offer free snacks for Sunday afternoon football. It's a great place to hang out!
