Sabor Latino Taqueria - Athens

This isn’t your typical chips and salsa spot, but the food is really good and reasonably priced.

You found it this the most authentic mexican food you will find on hwy 72 in Athens AL. This restaurant started as a food truck then moved to this little shop, they do have another location same food on Hwy 31 in Athens across from the highschool. You have to try the little tacos your choice of meat on a corn tortilla, diced onions, cilantro, add hot sauce to your taste and you will slap your momma!!

The first time I ordered from this restaurant, I was a bit disappointed by the smaller portion sizes. However, I've come to appreciate that it's an American tendency to expect larger servings. I've realized that their focus is on quality rather than quantity. The food is incredibly fresh and authentic. I absolutely adore their tortilla chips—thick, homemade, and so delicious that I could eat them on their own. Their queso is fantastic, and I really enjoyed the carnitas with verde sauce.

We did an order to go and honestly for the price the portions were really sad compared to the usual of other restaurants and food trucks in the area. It left a bit to be desired but in a pinch would stop again. Good salsa and aqua frescas!

Don't pay attention to the guy complaining about the rock! This place is amazing! Mistakes can happen, and using fresh ingredients sometimes means you might find a rock here and there—it's not intentional. I've been coming here for years, and the food is consistently excellent. If you have a problem, just talk to the owner or your server; they would have happily replaced your meal or offered it for free. I've loved their food since they were operating out of a taco truck on Highway 31, and I always will!
