Owner, Host Jacqueline and her husband Chef Jeremy run a beautiful restaurant based on French Cuisine. We sat outside and ate dinner on the balcony listening to some easy live dinner music. We ordered a bottle of Tannat Reserva 2015, a wine from Uruguay. Soft tannins, lots of fruit and soft leather on the nose. They have an excellent wine list supporting local and imported wines. The menu is perfect a little something for everyone. We ordered the Oysters and Escargot to start. Very, very good. To follow we both had the Mussel Frites, again extremely good. To finish the Strawberry Huckleberry Crumble and Vanilla Ice cream as well as the Creme Brulee. A Fine French evening.... I would recommend The Loft to all visiting Ashland, Oregon. Be sure to make a reservation if doing dinner before the Theatre as they get very busy. After seven thirty it is a bit quieter to chance a walk in.
The atmosphere is mysterious at first..... I arrived at what seemed to be a waiting room or lobby. I asked the person inside of my athletic short and t was ok to wear and she said it was fine and to head upstairs. I got to the top and there was a fantastic dining room with a fireplace on one side and a bar area on the other side. The people eating looked way too fancy for me so I opted to go outside on the patio. The server asked me if I was expecting someone and I replied with something on the order of that I did not like people and I prefer to eat alone. The patio is a romantic setting overlooking the creek or something on that order. I was disappointed that I put in an order for duck and it was sold out early in the night. However, oh my goodness, the strip steak was sooooo fantastic that I was glad the duck was gone. The whole atmosphere is beautiful here. The servers are sweet and eager to please. I am looking forward to bringing my boyfriend back. It is lovely....
This was a fabulous meal. Great service. But above all, whenever I order duck, what I received tonight was exactly what I always hope for. Good wine list. And the scallops appetizer almost made think I was in Paris. I've been to Paris, had the cream sauce and The Loft was just as good.
The lounge is a great place for a gathering, if there are enough people..we sat 15 in the nook window seats. My meal was the Bouillabaisse it was not as good as before..too much fish, not enough shellfish..but the broth I remembered was so delicious..not this time. Cocktails were great. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. We were a big party..so you have expect some delays! I will continue to enjoy this place..mixologist, bring back the dirty Mary with the caper rimmed with that black garlic salt, yeah?
Ambiance, sophistication, service. Yes, I will be back to this restaurant. We dined like royalty on the patio for 2 hours on a beautiful summer afternoon. We had mussels, oysters and the best macaroni and cheese ever. The wine list is very good and we were surprised at how much value there was to be had. Treat yourself.
