(ignoring the bad takeout reviews tapas should be eaten fresh.) thank you, itto!
Vegan on this menu does not mean vegan as is, it means the dish can be vegan made cute and cozy with several vegan tapas. we tried the itto fried tofu, harumake, tempura wobbles, and they were all delicious of the itto plants rays was a little disappointing. the noodles were in order, but had a very strong cale taste. there were only 3 pieces tofu, but the tofu was very good. the bowl was 90% nudel. I would suggest asking for extra tofu and/or sweet if they want to try this court.
Simply, that was probably the worst I ever ordered. the broth smells like she had gone bad and it literally had a broccoli flock for sweet. $13 for rough broth and a bubble noodle. I took a few bites and decided I didn't like it and threw the rest. will not be back. if you want to rave decent, try gan shan around the corner or even a $1 pack of smoker noodles from the Asian market.
$12 will give them a very mediocre bowl of vegan ramen with a flourish of broccoli, 3 bambus shoot, 3 pieces tofu and some ok nudge. the “creamy broth” tasted like the misery with salt, pepper and soy milk. friend didn't finish her. 1 extra star for actually a vegan option!
I visit Asheville quite regularly from Greenville, SC, simply because I love the vegan options, and it’s not a very far drive. I found this restaurant through Happy Cow, and after looking through the menu, I couldn’t wait to visit! The inari stuffed with seaweed and avocado was extremely messy, and I barely noticed the avocado. The avocado katsu sounded absolutely delicious, but it was just barely breaded and fried avocado. It desperately needed salt, or some sort of flavor. There was very little sauce. The tempura onion rings on the menu were listed as “vegan” with “chef’s special sauce”, but when they arrived, I recognized the sauce as a Mayo based sauce I was familiar with, and upon asking the server, it was, in fact, not vegan. The server brought a vegan sweet chili sauce instead, but it did not pair well with the onion rings, and I was still in shock why they would list something on the menu as vegan and serve it with a non-vegan sauce. The vegetable ramen came with kale noodles, which sounded great, but they were very bitter and not good. The other vegetables listed in the vegetable ramen simply weren’t there. The three pieces of tofu in the ramen were the best part of the meal. Other than that, there was one piece of standard raw broccoli, 4 shavings of radish, and a lot of corn, along with a few sprigs of arugula. $63 later, my partner and I were left with a lot of takeout that we later just threw out because no one was hungry enough to eat any of that again. I love to support a restaurant that is willing to offer vegan options, but this one just missed the mark, I’m sorry.
