Benne On Eagle - Asheville

Brunch cocktails were great, but the food was neat and not well done.

I have wanted to try Benne for some time, and was disappointed. Green salad with apple had only 3 4 slivers of apple. Waffle on chicken and waffles was flat and cold more like toast, cold toast. Seafood benedict was something to try out, but we were not impressed with the flavor of the seafood cake. Shrimp and grits were delightful.

Brunch on Easter Sunday and it did not disappoint. I could not decide so I ordered two dishes: the soft scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms AND fried green tomatoes. The FGT arrived atop homemade pimento cheese and accompanied by pickled onions. I'm glad I did both as they were both very tasty. Attentive and cheerful staff. Valet parking at hotel lot was a plus!
