If you like Punjabi, please readI discovered this place through Groupon.I can easily say they make the best tikka masala saaks around. I've been to all the Indian restaurants in the area and no disrespect to them but they don't know how to use spices. The tikka masala sauce has the right level of spices and masala. The others are either bland or just spicy with no flavor. Tikka masala should hit you with smell when it's near you. The thing should be oozing with spices. Other restaurants don't do that but this place does.To the owners:Don't change your pubjabi recipes. Keep this consistency please.
Last night for dinner, a friend and I walked to a nearby Indian restaurant called Chennai Express. The place was packed with so many others coming in to pick up their take out orders. My friend and I were the only ones to come in the entire time that did not have roots to that part of the world. When I ordered a Biryani dish, the waiter said it is very spicy. I innocently asked, Is it Indian spicy? To which, he simply replied, Look around...this is an Indian restaurant. And so it was. I ordered the Rasam soup which is a South India traditional natural spiced soup. I think the main spice is simply called hot as it cleared nostrils and had my eyes watering. I ordered a very healthy portion of shrimp Biryani while my friend ordered the Chennai chicken noodles, which also had some serious heat. I would have given this place a five, but some twenty minutes separated the delivery of my meal to my friend 's meal. I had to wait a long time before enjoying my dish. Still, this place offers truly authentic Indian food with the right amount of heat. No let downs here.
We took a parcel. The price point is a little high but the food is decently good.Food: 4/5
Was very excited to try a kerala restaurant in DMV area. Didn't even came close to any expectation.Saturday evening for dinner. There is no ambiance or decoration. A big room of tables and chairs. Not ceartain what's the white sheets of paper covering the tables for!Ordered, medhuvada( ഉഴുന്ന് വട which came out to be the only satisfying dish that we orderd over over a $100 order for two. But the story stops there though. The coconutchutney that came with it, was finely grinded like toothpaste texture and didn't had any flavor ± it was sweet.Ordered the tea two time. Which turned out to be an average experience.Beef coconut fry, cheap cut of meat that was over seasoned.Lemon rice was such a disaster where you could see half cooked onions create a mela there. And the waiter was shocked that we barely touched it. No flavour at all.Biriyani was an another disappointment. They are upfront about it is mot being a dum cooked biriyani but nothing like any kerala biriyani. Over powring flavour of rose water and undercoocked spices all over.Aleppy chemmen curry is barely anything like a Kerala dish except the curry leaves in it and it doesnot do any justice to its name or even the fact it is a curry. Being an aleppy native I am deeply ofended with its quality, taste, ingredient combo or even the cooking method.Pazham pori aka banana fritters are alright.Neyyappam was alright too.Our swrver was very nice and he seems to cordinate very well.Kitchen staff needs better training on their own menu items and I dought if the owner ever actually experienced the taste and quality of their food.
