Coconut Curry - Artist Village

I had heard great things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the famous chicken gassi neer dosa, a specialty from Mangalore that is my favorite. The coconut curry is a bar restaurant with both AC and Non-AC sections. It seems to be a popular spot for guys to hang out, have drinks, and enjoy starters. The staff mentioned that families usually come in during lunch and dinner hours, but when I visited, there were no families dining there. I ordered the bombil rawa fry and the chicken gassi neer dosa. The bombil rawa fry is Bombay duck fish coated in spices and deep fried. The fish was tasty, but could have used a bit more seasoning. The chicken gassi was a thick curry with South Indian spices and coconut, which was flavorful but a bit too spicy for my liking. The neer dosa, also known as water dosa, was good overall, but there were some dry and hard areas in between, suggesting that it may have been reheated. Despite the disappointing neer dosa, the bill for everything came to a reasonable Rs.388 in the AC section. The service was fast and efficient. I would recommend this place to others.

Amazing dishes. Good ambience. The staffs are very friendly. Highly recommended. Has many varieties and are pocket friendly. A good place to go with family.

The coconut curry has recently opened its permit room and I had visited the place along with my friend for our weekend dine out on Saturday Sept The AC section is smaller in size with average ambience. We had our regular drinks and...as for starters, Scrambled egg was full of salt and had to send it back to kitchen. We got it back after reducing the excess salt in it by adding some ingredients . Surmai fry was fresh and good in taste and simple dal kichdi in main course was equally good. Service was good and prompt. The only unpleasant experience was not finding water to flush in the toilet and informed the same to the serving waiter and at cash counter before leaving the place.

This place serves good Mangalorean dishes. I have tried both their fish and chicken dishes and quite liked it. The place seemed to be frequented more by people who wanted to enjoy a drink or two. They do have an air conditioned section, not sure...if that is the family seating area. Overall a nice eating and drinking joint near Belapur station.
