I was next and about to order when the cashier/ barista stepped away to start making the order for the couple behind me (cappuccinos and gluten free sandwiches). Bottomline: you don't ignore and skip customers. I don't think it was the owners (good business practice is let paying customers go first) and I don't care if it's your regular customer (we were becoming regular customers since we live only .6 miles away). Too many coffee places to deal with bad customer service. Thank you, never coming back.
The service is here mediocre. Most of the baristas appear to be apathetic teenagers who think pajamas are clothes. The brewed coffee is over roasted (but less so than Starbucks) but they have a breadth of syrups to drown out their coffee so it kind of evens out? The food and pastries are decent. Most of the pastries are made in-house. However, everything is wrapped in plastic which looks unappealing and concerns me regarding freshness. The atmosphere feels funky if we 're being generous, downmarket if we 're not. Price range is on par with Starbucks. I really want to like this place because it 's not a chain and it 's near my house but it 's not as good as ceremony, bean rush or rise up.
I just moved here about 6 months and I'm big fan of supporting local places. Unfortunately I won't be able to that with City Dock in Arnold. Every time I've come in the service is terrible and the coffee is even worse. This last time I waited 10 min before being acknowledged. The guys where walking around and there was no one in the shop. On top of that they close at 5pm. I guess people don't go to coffee shops after 5? I was hopeful, but it didn't work out.
Bottom Line: Adequate for local coffee but not a place I 'd frequent. I like trying local businesses but this location of City Dock Coffee was disappointing. I ordered a half and half (half regular, half decaf coffee and it was about five minutes before my drink was ready. The wait wasn 't a big deal but I wish the staff had communicated that, what is usually the quickest drink, would take some extra time. Usually baristas usually throw a positive spin on it and say something like, We 're brewing some fresh coffee for you right now and it will just be a few minutes! but the staff here didn 't say anything. I 'm not sure they were brewing fresh coffee, I just know a handful of fancy coffee drinks and teas came up while I waited for my drip coffee. While I patiently waited, I got to check out the shop some more. Unfortunately, I stood on the backside of one of their commercial machines (maybe a cappuccino machine? and I could see about 1/8 or more of dust sitting on the top of the machine and the wire baskets holding the cups. That was unappetizing. I was hoping for more from my neighborhood coffee shop,
My husband likes this place but he only drinks iced coffee. He's a minimalist, so to him it's adequate. To me, I've tried their iced coffee (no cold brew, and too watery for me), iced and hot lattes (mediocre, and too expensive to adjust to taste like adding an additional shot), and their mocha (eh). I want so badly to love this place. It's right up the street from our home, it's a local business, and is a cute little shop. It's not uncommon to see neighbors and peers strolling in and out. The service is only fine. They take your order (I've never had an incorrect order), and they make your drink. But rarely are you greeted by anyone overly friendly or bubbly. Usually it's with a brash hello and not so much as a thank you or goodbye. This place will definitely be a place we frequent, but really only due to accessibility.
