Auberge des Matfeux - Arnage

It 's a very very good restaurant with a warm staff. The raviole de langoustine are just the best entrée ever !! I 've already been there a few times and never been disappointed.

On arrival we thought that the modern building looked more like an industrial unit than a gourmet restaurant and wondered whether we had made a mistake in booking lunch. The car park was deserted Saturday 12.15pm and from the road there were few signs of...life. However on entering we were greeted and shown to a pleasant bright table by a window ... and within 15 minutes the restaurant appeared completely full with both small and larger parties of diners. Set menus offer the best value 41€, 54€ or 76€ ! . Although they look and are expensive the quality of the food is impeccable and the presentation faultless. We enjoyed fresh asparagus, lobster and tomato as a first starter, followed by langoustine ravioli, then an entrecote steak of superb Scottish Aberdeen Angus. This was followed by a choice of cheeses and then delicious desserts. A meal to remember!

Wow. We dined here on Saturday lunch during an extended family gathering (the 'cousinade ' of the Souffront family (of which Xavier is one . It was terrific. We had for starter the 'raviole de langoustine ' which apart from being extremely tasty, has been apparently a favourite...at the restaurant for many many years. The service was excellent main courses served under a 'cloche ' which always adds a note of drama and anticipation when the waiters simultaneously lift up the lids at the same time. There is also an incredible wine list at l 'Auberge des Matfeux possibly unsurpassed in the region. If you want a true gastronomic experience then this is the place to go. Thanks Xavier and Corinne.

I wanted to book a table for 7 guests for a birthday party in 2 weeks time. they can only book for a maximum of 6 online, so sent my inquiry through the email, as detailed on their website, 3 days later I had...heared nothing, so arranged the venue, pressed 2 for the restaurant as directed and spoke to someone who said they were not in the position to deal with restaurant reservations, but assured me that they get someone to take me back in 10 minutes to take mine. 4 hours later, and I'll wait for a call! this restaurant is obviously soou busy, it doesn't need my habit since I was now ignored twice. it will not try again and meet elsewhere. pity as I'm on site and would have been nice to go as I like to support local businesses.

We had a big dinner here for 12 of us and used the private dining room. we have all decided for the 8-course tasting menu (every one on the table must have no one else.) the dining room was very nice and the...whole place is pretty nice. If you spin outside, you are a tasty bite. the personal was friendly, but maybe a little too stiff for my lust. everything was very serious, which is not really what I think is a great service. the food itself was presented fantastic, but I only felt that it was missing. not many of the 8 courses really made me think "wow that’s epic." it was a strong money even at about 100 € per person. I just don't think it was amazing enough for this price tag. I would probably go back and try the normal menu, but I would not recommend the tasting menu to these costs.
