Kanpai is best known for their fantastic lunch specials. When I worked in the neighborhood I would go over and get a wonderful katsu lunch plate for right around $10. But Kanpai is even better for dinner, and if Rosslyn was more active in the evenings I think Kanpai get the recognition it deserves. I love going to Kanpai in the evening and enjoying their really well curated list of noodle dish specials like nabeyaki udon and zaru soba depending on the season. You can even get handmade yaki onigiri that looks and tastes flawless. Any place that keeps a natto handroll on the menu cares about the details I don't even like natto and I still order it every time I go just on principle. Give Kanpai a chance to be more than a business lunch and you'll find a real neighborhood gem.
Great food! I always loved japanese cruisine and I can tell that they always serve fresh food, the prices are reasonable of course. the japanese have such raw food and they need best ones to avoid poisoining. thumbs up! 10/10 recommended.
I just can't understand any hate on this place. The ingredients are always fresh as can be, the service is prompt and professional, it's reasonably priced for the area, and everything's clean. Try the Chesapeake roll I know it sounds a little weird but the thought to sprinkle a little old bay on sushi was delicious and inventive IMO.
Superb sushi and amazing teriyaki. Goya dumpings were the best! Reasonably priced and AWESOME food. Going back ASAP.
Everything was delicious: the sushi, the teriyaki, and even the miso soup. Will be going back.
