Cafe Colline - Arlington

I don't know if the hostess is French but she certainly has the stereotypical French personality. My dining partner requested a seating accommodation due to an injury when she arrived (before me) that was met with disdain; clearly she was inconvenienced. My friend had injured herself that evening and without my knowledge, so I was unable to update the reservation to make a request. Regardless, it was not handled well throughout the evening. Moreover, the staff was overworked our waiter was great but limited by the overwhelmed kitchen (we waited 45 minutes before our appetizer came out). Beet salad was delicious; we asked for bread to sop up the dressing and clean the plate! Repeated requests for bread (2 pieces come out at a time) went unanswered for way too long. My seabass was cooked too long and was drowning in melted butter (which I normally like but there was way too much and there was nothing to absorb it (rice/frites/bread) dish was un edible as a result. My dinner partner's pasta was overcooked; flavor good, just not al dente. Just overall disappointing experience as I'd heard such wonderful things.

Four of us enjoyed brunch yesterday at this facility. My food, sea bass, was wonderful and looked just like its picture on the website. Restaurant was rather noisy and a little drafty. I mentioned the latter to our server and asked if perhaps a door had been left ajar. She said she would check but never came back. Regarding the noise level, we were thankful that there were not many people at the bar, or noise would have escalated. All in all, a very pleasant afternoon.

Great service and food was delicious, but my stomach was very upset afterwards. This is my second time dining there and the same thing happened the first time. I enjoyed the evening, but am not sure if I will return because the food does not seem to agree with me.

I haven't had everything on the menu but what I've had has been delicious. The chicken is tasty, my husband and I shared the strip steak and it did not disappoint. We also had a Caesar Salad, and French onion soup. I've had potato crusted salmon which was amazing. I tried to duplicate that at home but it was so much better at Cafe Collin. I've also had the sea bass. The desserts I've had are the olive oil cake, chocolate cups and the chocolate flourless cake. I could go on and on describing each dish but all of ones we have had have been so good. This keeps us coming back. The wait staff are very good at what they do. We would definitely take company to Cafe Colline.
