Lovely authentic restaurant. Chef was a great guy telling us a lot about Arequipa and the traditional food. We even had a look in the kitchen, which was very nice. The alpaca steak was heavenly. Easily the best meat I've ever had. It's not cheap, but well worth the money! Highly recommended.
Words do not make justice to the majestic beauty and the special blend of the Andalusian and ancient energies of this city. Sonccollay overlooks the old Plaza de Armas of Arequipa. The food is absolutely delicious. I ate there three days in a row during my time in Arequipa. I tried the Alpaca, Cuy (Guinea Pig) and Ceviche dishes. Don't be confused. You can eat all these dishes in other places in Peru, but in Sonccollay they are prepared how people ate them before the Inka Empire conquers the various pre-Columbian cultures that existed around the Andes in Antiquity. I highly recommend tasting this restaurant when you visit Arequipa. The entrance is at the corner of the Plaza and not be surprised if you don't find people standing outside trying to convince you come like all the other restaurants in the Plaza. This restaurant follows the rules and does not direct people to illegally force you to come. Food, first-class service and beautiful ambience
An amazing Peruvian experience. Powerful aromas and one of the most welcoming restaurants I've ever visited even got a tour through the kitchen to see how things are done. Would recommend the warm passion fruit and shrimp ceviche.
I tried alpaca (rips) for the first time here and it was totaly overcooked. I think even a dog woudlnt have eaten it, the rest was ok, but nothing special nice view from the terace.
