This is my 3rd visit here as my daughter is a fierce vegan and there are not many places we go that satisfy her .The food is very good and there is many mock meat dishes on the menu that I've never picked as vegetarian . On this visit I tried the vegetable spaghetti and it was delicious , cooked in a tomato sauce and the veges were cooked perfectly. My wife had a chicken salad and commented the balsamic dressing was the best she has tried. The service here can be a little slow but there is a small giftware section here and we always seem to leave with something after every visit. So for good quality vegetarian food give it a try.
My partner, I went there last night for some quiet birthday celebrations. We had read mixed reviews online, but were hopeful that it would be a good night. But in honesty, It wasn't good. That said, we did like the restaurant, We liked the food, but we didn't like the experience. So I feel I should explain; The Restaurant The elegant yet quirky design of the restaurant is in parts quite beautiful. Or at least it was at one point. Its seems that either the owners have lost their way or new owners have come in, and not upkeep the look and standards. Their are a number if things that are obvious to every customer that comes in, that should be rectified;1. Remove the stacks of old tabloid magazines, its a restaurant not a doctors waiting office.2. The counter at which you are paying needs to be clean, organised and minimalist. Its a restaurant not your office. Remove the printer and all other stuff that doesn't need to be their.3. Whats happening with the far right corner of the restaurant? The partition walls and poor hung drapes? It doesn't fool anyone, that your using this space for clutter. nobody wants to be seated next to that. Plus its valuable floor space! what are you you thinking? (no excuses get rid of it!)4. You have a wonderful chilled cabinet, yet its poorly utilised. It should be full of delicious deserts, yet you use it to cool water for the tables? if you dont use it, get rid of it. its looks worse for you restaurant if its their empty gathering dust. They are thing s you can do to avoid food spoilage, like putting deserts that have a 3 or 4 day shelf life.5. Noise. Turn down the ringer on you phone, it can be heard all through the restaurant. Speaking of which, staff on mobile phones inside the restaurant is a big NO! The smoothie maker, is fine during the day, bring it into the kitchen at night. its too loud. With wooden floors, appropriate footwear, that doesn't sound like your trotting a horse through the walk way is vital, experiment accordingly. 6. Clear up your clutter. Thats a big problem here. Example, If the entrance to kitchen is visible, make sure its clean and tidy, not cluttered. in fact that whole corner next to the kitchen doorway detracts from the restaurant. sort it out!7. The cutlery needs to be updated, please look at your forks and see which are bent out of shape and replace them. The plates are mismatched, and chipped. some dont sit properly on the table. It was a first for me to have to put a coaster under a plate. And yes, we did see that some of the cutlery was god good branded (TK) quality. Most though was just cheap stuff. which is why i feel that the attention to detail has slipped for some reason on this restaurant.Service.The service is probably the worst thing about the place, in fact its probably the worst I've seen in quite some time. These people just dont get it?1. What is with the man serving in the jeans, nike sneakers and death metal t-shirt? That is not appropriate attire to be serving in a restaurant, I dont want some guy in a shirt that read "Spawn: The streets are RED" serving me food. I am deadly serious about that, it is not okay. I dont care what excuse you have. Infact if a customer comes in with that t-shirt they should be sent away too! Just look at any restaurant, any franchise, any petrol station that serves **** from a bain-marie .... they dont wear death metal t-shirts... neither should you!2. Bring food out together. We saw 3 dishes of a group of 4 being served and 15 mins after the 4th person was severed. That is unacceptable. It happen to us aswell that my partners dish came out first and then mine came 5 or so minutes later. Its obviously a problem with the kitchen staff, remind them that timing is everything.3. If you take the side plates and cutlery away because they are dirty from the entree, bring some more back before the mains! We had to steal some form the table next to us.4. While we were there it was clear that disorganisation was pervasive through the kitchen and the serving staff. We saw people from the restaurant go to either the supermarket (most likely) or a storage facility for things they needed for service. Its worrying to me that at 8 pm on a Friday night that the kitchen staff are not organised enough to have the things they need for the night. The Food though. I liked. and thats the shame about this restaurant, its the experience that lets it down. I hope the the problems I have outlined do get fixed asap. I would like this restaurant to survive, but in honesty i won't be going back, and I dont see why anyone would want to go there right now either.
Have been here a couple of times and dont think I would bother again. Quite expensive for whats on offer and when you have the Oriental Pearl next door I cant understand why people bother? Strange menu and half soaked staff!!!!
I had been looking forward to visiting Heavenly Plate since last year and only just made it there on the weekend with my sister. To my dissapointment, we were greeted by a not so friendly waitress who took us to a pokey table in the corner and we basically had to wait almost 15 minutes to be served! The place was really quiet too, with only 1 couple dining and a group of friends at another table for a baby shower. While waiting to be served, my sister & I were looking around to check the place out and I could not believe some of the things we saw. The table cloths were all creased and the crockery was dirty, with grubby black marks! Also, the menus were grubby and we really felt that the concept was there, but totally lacking the attention to detail and cleanliness that this place so deserves. After 5 minutes of waiting, I saw either a chef or a kitchen hand walked past to go to the toilet. His apron was absolutely disgusting and after his visit to the loo, I was appauled to see that he'd washed his hands but he didn't bother to dry them and water was dripping everywhere! This was the breaking point for me! 1 guess where he wipes his hands?! Yuck!Anyway, when the waitress finally came around and told us it was $38 per person for high tea, we scarpered! This place needs a lot of improvement and I highly recommend going elsewhere, somewhere clean and much more value for money!
