The Grapes - Appleby-in-Westmorland

A Sunday afternoon out in Appleby. Staff very pleasant and chatty. Was driving, so no drinking. They did have, Strongbow, John Smiths and a larger on draught though. Was quite when there. Meals were well cooked and a full plate given. Worth a visit, recently taken over (2020) and being updated when possible.

Stopped off here last month for a Sunday roast and pleased I did, it was fantastic.A choice of beef, lamb and pork, and they didn't tie you to one, I opted for beef and pork. A good array of vegetables and a gravy boat which I failed to capture in my photo.All cooked perfectly, plentiful and delicious, and the staff were brilliant.

Especially interesting to visit when there is the worldfamous Travellers Horse Fair.

Called here today for Sunday lunch and it is still as good as the last visit eight months ago.Value for money very good quality fare and served most efficiently.The interior of this establishment is lacking a little but the food service makes up for this.
