La Corona - Ansbach

Wonderful place huge wine list very friendly staff and owner fantastic food premium Nebraska beef great!

This italian place serves nice dishes at good prices. Huge choice of meals in a bavarian decoration place... Ambiance was nice. We went there in the evening during the week, and the restaurant was full. Good sign !

Just by accident we walked through into this beautiful courtyard. It was later in the evening and the atmosphere with the outdoor seating and the beautifully placed flowers made us feel like in Italy! All tables were occupied and we had not made reservations. But...in no time the owner arranged a table for us and while we waited we already had something to drink. The staff was running in and out up and down the steps they were so busy. Since we arrived so late the owner told us that the kitchen will be closing soon but I must say: the food !! Sülze, pork roast, ribs all was excellent!! And the wines!! This is a vinoteca and they have very fine wines! We had different red wines by the glass to try and were very pleased. Since we arrived so late we were one of the last guests to leave and had a chance to chat with the owner and one of the waitresses who turned out to be his daughter who is studying law and just helping out during the summer. What a nice girl and everyone so friendly and happy. We had one of the most enjoyable evenings here in Ansbach.

This place was much smaller than i expected but very cozy. There was one large table for maybe a group of but it is a perfect place for a date night. They don't really dim the lights but the tables are candle lit and...there were wooden shelving with wine bottles lining almost all the walls. They brought out bread w/ olive oil and salt to start. I noticed a lot of the reviews said the guy who owns the shop talked them up and taught them about their wines and what not but he did not do that with us even though we were the first ones there when it opened and there was no one else for about half an hour, which wasn't a big deal but i was kind of bummed after seeing the reviews and knowing we were the only people there. My husband told the waiter to surprise him and pick his meal. Not sure what he ordered but it wasn't that great but i will swear by the duck breast it was one of the best meals i've had.

La Corona is a gem tucked away in downtown Ansbach. It is a treat for the senses with changing themed menus and accompanying wines. The Gerg family provides gracious hospitality, paying attention to details. It is always a wonderful experience for us whether dining alone,...with friends, or participating in wine tastings.
