The very short menu promised high quality attention to detail, which was definitely the case! For the child who doesn’t like lamb or fish, there was a salmon alternative that wasn’t on the menu, which was great. The mushroom/egg amuse bouche was enjoyed by all, even the kids (to our great surprise). Everything was delicious, and the crowning glory was the birthday cake with a personalized caramel plaque on it, served with candles. The lovely owners/staff were lovely with the kids (between 9 15). Definitely a wonderful place to spend a great evening in Annecy.
We searched online for a long time and walked a long time to find this place. According to their website they would open at noon on Saturday and Sunday. When we finally found it there was a sign announcing it was closed due to Covid but indicated they would reopen at some point. This info was not posted on the website or their Facebook page.
We were looking for a lunch spot and found a wonderful culinary experience. The set menu offered limited choices, but we are so glad that we decided to stay. Caroline is such a gracious hostess and explained each option, making suggestions along the way. Trust her! Each dish was a complete harmony of presentation and flavor. So much so that we asked to see how the chef puts together the plates. Through the kitchen window we saw Chef Freddy single-handedly deliver plate after plate of a complete perfection, elevating each to an art form. To anyone considering giving Au Fil du Thiou a try, allow yourself plenty of time, trust these guys to delight you with an amazing meal and enjoy every bite as you people watch on this charming square by the canal. Thank you so much for this outstanding meal, Caroline and Freddy. We wish your business all the success and appreciation it deserves. Your California fans.
My wife and I dined here and were very very pleased. We sat out doors in a quiete courtyard overlooking a canal that was void of tourists. The food was artfully prepared and the flavors were very well thought out with what appeared to be farm to table ingredients. We had a delightful salad with carrot and beet purées and baby carrots with light herbs and green beans, and a very well prepared tart for our appetizers. For main courses Cochon and Dourade again very well done. The desserts were both very well prepared with high quality ingredients. I would highly recommend this restaurant but would suggest making a reservation as once it is full you are out of luck.
