Pastelaria Athanasio

Selection of drinks and pastries is the usual, but the staff are excellent and the cafe is a soupcon of history.

We stopped here for a light lunch. Nice selection of pastries, both savoury and sweet and good coffee.

We were staying within walking distance and this was the perfect place for a light lunch or a coffee. They were even open on Christmas where we purchased additions for our picnic up on Mount Brasil. The staff is just as wonderful and warm as you can imagine.

But neither the coffee or the pastries matched the view, and I was left disappointed. There are many other coffee shops to choose from in Angra do Heroismo, so not to worry.

Athanasio the paradise of traditional cakes! In the historical center of the city of Angra do Heroismo there is a small cakes shop, where you can taste the richness of the traditional and conventual cakes. In the summer there is also a very pleasant terrace. Be sure to visit this true ex-libris from Angra do Heroísmo, the Azores and Portugal.
