Esplanada Alianca - Angra do Heroísmo

This was the only negative experience during our ten-day trip. The food took forever to arrive, was not at all as described, tasted bland or bad. When offered a vegetarian option, one of us received a plate of salty zucchini pieces for which we were charged a lot of money—they thought we wouldn’t understand and billed us for a seafood dish instead. We thought it would be best to pay and leave. Similarly, asking about specific pastries, we were directed to those we weren’t interested in instead because they were more expensive. Just stay away!

Located in Praça Velho with indoor seating and in warmer weather outside in the square Good place for a very tasty cheap lunch choice from six dishes at 5€ plus drinks. Service friendly and quick Recommended

Waited more than 90 mins for food, half the table got got our order, the other half waited even longer and when the burger and fries arrived it was cold. Service was terrible, food was terrible. Wasn’t that busy, watched other tables who arrived later get served before us, and other tables only get half their orders. Do not eat here.

Im shocked to see low ratings for this lovely local cafe. Had a nice breakfast on our arrival on the island. The staff made every attempt to speak English to us and understand what we wanted. We ate here or had a coffee or a drink at this lovely spot every day of our 8 day stay. I wish i could name all the staff who were so great, but Sara was our evening dinner waitress and was wonderful in suggesting meals and so much more. Every meal was good, and a reasonable price and the grilled tuna was better than some of the restaurants that had been recommended to us. Many of the people we met at our hotel, came to this cafe daily as well.
