Le Chergui - Angoulême

The decor is really worth it and upstairs is just as nice. I hate places that have a second dining room downstairs or on the first floor which isn't even half as pretty as they one you can see from the street, don't you? The welcome is top too, we went with a noisy baby whose delight is throwing teaspoons on the floor and they were completely un-phased. The food is delicious, tastes homecooked and fresh. The owner is very nice, but the waiter was a bit head-in-the-clouds... at times we were waving and yelling and he was still staring beautifically into space. Maybe he's in love? And I'm greedy so I could have used a slightly larger portion. But I'll definitely go there again next time I'm in Angouleme.

Love Moroccan food when it’s done well. Lovely restaurant with a nice ambiance and decor, hidden down one of the many cobbled restaurant streets about 4 min walk from the covered market. The set menus are very good. I had the chicken tagine which was awesome. Very good value and an excellent night.

We didn't know angoulemia, we trusted three-way, as usual! with the gps, the chergui is easy to find, even if parking is less! I enjoyed myself with an egg brig, remarkably successful, since the egg was perfectly cooked: white cooked and yellow as if poached, a delight. Then it was the couscous presented to the plate, I had never eaten such a fine smoulch (and the boss explained to me that it was his mother who crushed the wheat in a stone grind).) to the evocation of this couscous, I still have the papillae that simmer of happiness! all this served with great kindness and the dazzling smile of the boss. run to treat yourself to the chergui, you will not be disappointed since the motto of the boss is "there is no pleasure without perfection". Thanks again for this good time at the chergui.

We were warned that there would be a little waiting, no serious we are on vacation. Finally the service was not very long. The couscous is to fall!!! not heavy, well-stocked! a good advice for the wine! to be remade!!
