The Pompous Pig - Anderson

I stopped in because I read they were voted best BBQ in Anderson. When you walk in it?s fairly standard of a bbq joint. You order at the counter and then go sit down. I ordered the Brisket plate with Green beans and fried okra and corn bread. The people working there were very nice and the food came out somewhat quickly. The brisket was not great. It looked liked they either keep it in some type of beef broth or they dropped it in some beef broth before serving. Unfortunately that makes it taste like a roast and not brisket. It wasn?t heavily seasoned with salt and pepper. The green beans were straight from a can and had zero flavor. No self respecting bbq joint serves stuff bland from a can. The fried okra was better than everything else. I did enjoy eating it. The cornbread was moist but not much flavor. All in all....it?s not a terrible place. I?m sure they do other things better or maybe I just came on an off day (It was a Sunday).

Very disappointed with the portion of meat we got on our nachos compared to the price we paid. We have been eating here for a while and the portions have been getting smaller. Great little spot off the main road. Super friendly staff owner. Going to all tables to make sure everything's good. Oh yeah....the food was soo soo good, great find while here on business. The food at this restaurant is amazing. The BBQ is especially delicious, and the Hickory sauce is fantastic. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
