Wonjo Korean Cuisine - Anchorage

I went here off a suggestion from my Korean friend. She told me they had the real deal taste of Korea. And she was right! Food was as good as if you went to Korea yourself to eat. Highly recommend. Loved the different traditional sides they offer with your order too.

The ddokboggi was so damn good!!! Compare to many other Korean restaurants I’ve been to in Anchorage (e.g. Korean garden and tofu house), this place has the best ddokboggi. The rice cake is so chewy and soft. Plenty of sauce that is thick! PS the ddokboggi doesn’t originally come with the glass noodles. The tofu soup wasn’t much to my liking as it’s a little bland but still good.The bibimbop pot was hot and made the rice so crisp, love it! We order 5 dishes for 3 people, still had some leftovers to bring home. Our total came to be $131.Kid-friendliness: There’s a kid menu/lunch tray.

Their service was the worst ever! I was a part of a tour group and I understood they were busy. However what they did was totally wrong.1. I ordered a separate dish for my daughter and told them I would pay for it. They demanded I had to pay for it when I placed my order. I never paid for my food in advance at a restaurant. Were they afraid that I would not pay for it?2. They went around the tables and “collected” tips from everyone even before finished eating. When there was no cash on the table they actually asked customers to pay.Maybe this happens only to group tourists but their behavior is not acceptable!

Authentic taste. Main dish and side dishes are very delicious. Tasted like it came straight from Korea. Radish kimchi was so good and it tasted like kimchi from my hometown. Highly recommend.

The food was excellent, with a variety of small side dishes. My mom, who is just starting to explore Korean cuisine, really enjoyed it. I ordered the bibimbap, and I noticed that there was quite a bit of overlap between the side dishes and the ingredients in the bowl. There are some more expensive dishes on the menu that I’d love to try someday, perhaps for dinner.
