Halibut good but pricey. Ok, I am a normal working lower 48 guy who thought he could get cheap salmon and halibut in Anchorage. Not so! The fish at this joint is good, but I noticed different portion sizes on rhe halibut pieces. Not a friendly place-especially the owner-but a tasty sandwich.

Fresh handmade onion rings and fries, double cheeseburger and a mushroom Swiss burger... Perfect!

An Alaskan Original. This is an Alaskan hamburger joint worthy of the name. There have been three locations, three owners and the quality remains high over the 58 years its been here. Real meat and fish, fries that start their morning whole in their skins and get sliced waiting to be cooked when you order them.Its not big or fancy, but the walls have actual memories, history, hanging on them, not some designer's idea of what would represent real history.This is a counter where you can have a good sandwich and talk with a Governor, Senator, Arch-Bishop, Representative, journalist, NFL player, NHL player, or a guy from McGrath; you never know who will be checking in.Good food, no pretense.

Hard pressed to find a half-decent burger in Alaska? You probably haven't tried one here yet.
