Tap Root - Anchorage

We visited with my wife one night from Fairbanks. That Friday was a showcase of music groups. We came as early as and ordered a dinner. That was a good idea as we did not know how crowded the place is going to be and were just in time to got a good table aside from the scene. The dinner was good, nothing spectacular but very good. Service was very good too. And then, the music started! It was just awesome! We were able to dance on some occasions (until when the crowd grew to impossible density). Great music, fun people, nice atmosphere. We will come again on our next visit for sure. Loved the place. We left around midnight and I think the concert was at least for more hours that day.

Becoming our Saturday Place! Bartenders are Awesome and the wait staff too! The staff is attentive and fun and they have a great Chef so the Salmon Tacos are fabulous and the Chile with reindeer sausage was big and delicious. Great people, great beer selection great music and great food! WHY WOULD YOU GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! Make a point to try it, I highly recommend it!!

It's a bit cold inside. Science club is pretty awesome. Lecture by a knowledgeable scientist plus informal pub quiz for a free drink. Food is decent dive food

Came in here for a drink, and what I found was a live band playing French Canadian folk music (I assume). It was a darker atmosphere in which everyone seemed really friendly and to know each other. They have a nice lark beer selection on tap and a good bottle selection too. I didn't get to try their food, but there was something called the Spenard Dip that looked awesome. I'll definitely come back and if the food is as good at the atmosphere, I'll be changing my rating to stars.

I've only been here twice, but it is hands down my favorite bar in Anchorage. The atmosphere is good and there is live music every night, so it's a fun place to take a date, or just to go and hang out and meet people, whom are very nice, warm and welcoming there, that includes both staff and patrons First time I went there, was because I'd heard that one of my favorite indie bands was coming to town, but I had to work until midnight. I got there at the cover charge was but I told the door man I had to work until and he let me come in and see the last minutes of the show for free The one time I tried the food there (Chicken noodle soup) I was impressed; it was a HUGE bowl of very good soup, for which is what many places in town charge for a can of beer. Very reasonable.
