Namaste Shangri-la - Anchorage

Ordered 3 main entrees, took them 1 hr to make. all had the same tomato gravy. The menu said entrees come with rice. They just gave us 1 bowl of rice. They said, “It’s our policy to give one rice per table” like really?? But we ordered 3 separate entrees. I can make much better food in one hour. Disappointing. Worst Indian place ever. Would give 0 stars if i could

This place is a small hidden gem. Seriously the food was so good and the atmosphere was so amazing. The staff was always coming around to make sure you were ok and you can tell they pour their hearts into everything they make.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options and vegan too.

Ordered spicy food expecting food to be cooked under certain measures however they added green chilly paste in-order to make them spicy. My husband enjoyed the spiciness however i want able to handle the green chillies. Still ate it as we were craving for some spicy Indian food. Appreciate atmosphere and service.

I have been to a lot of places, but this was one of my bad experience. I wanted to like the place but couldn’t.The food was average. Had to wait 1.5 hours after ordering. We were told main course would take some extra time and we ordered appetizers. But after 1.5 hours, main course came but appetizers weren’t even served. After reminding, the appetizer were served after the main course.

We love Indian food, ordered appetizers, garlic naan, both were good. The wait for our entrees were over 30 minutes. Both doses were too salty for our taste. The lamb was tough . The rice was undercooked. Disappointed, we only ate half of the okra dish, the sauce was good but salty, we left most of the lamb untouched. The owner/waiter didn’t even asked how we liked the food, he could see that there were lots left. I think they got good business and didn’t care.
