Biggest cups of hot chocolate I've seen. But the best of all was the service. Ask to sit where Sparky is serving. She great with kids and it is like being served by your grandmother wants you to be happy, and full!
This was a breakfast-out visit yesterday with two great friends. Gwennie's reindeer sausage, eggs, and home fries are the world's best. The Denver omelets are also scrumptious. The atmosphere is authentic Old Alaskan style and very comfortable. The servers are very attentive and do everything imaginable to provide a delicious, memorable meal. And the coffee! Gwennie's coffee is very likely the best on town! There's plenty of parking, too. Gwennie's: an excellent family restaurant with everything close to perfect!
This place was recommended by the locals. Prices are decent, but food is so so. Fisherman's sampler platter tastes like it came out of a frozen box. Carrot cake very dense. They serve a lot of food, but it tastes processed, not fresh or home cooked.
Stopped in for a breakfast. I believe my waitress name was Brenda. She was the friendliest person I have met so far in Anchorage. My food came out quickly and was delicious. Definitely worth a stop!
If you are looking for great comfort food in an eclectic setting then look no further. After several disappointing restaurants in anchorage, I discovered this jewel. I was in heaven. Great unpretentious food, large portions, nice staff, and fun environment. It seemed to be a spot locals frequent so you know it is good. I had breakfast on my way out of Anchorage and lunch on my next trip through Anchorage. Bring an appetite and you will not disappointed.
