Really chill and authentic. I can recommend going there and asking for recommendations to try if you’ve never had Surinamese food before. If you have had before then you’ll get a great version of what you already like.

Delicious roti, pom, and saoto soup with fresh ingredients. The madame Jeanette chili sauce is the perfect level of extra spiciness too. And the one server who was still there when we arrived just before closing stuck around for 15 extra minutes just to prepare our meal. So all in all an absolutely top quality place, a real aanrader as the Dutch say...

So I left Brussels. Spent the first 2 hours of being in Amsterdam on lost (trying to find my hostel and then later trying to find the restaurant I wanted to go to). When I finally found the restaurant, I was so drained and hungry (PLUS my international cards didn't work so I had leave and come back to find an atm and get cash then come back). BUT when I finally did sit down, Jennifer was SO cool and patient. Everything was in a language I didn't know, so I couldn't understand the menu. She explained every veggie dish to me and helped me pick out stuff she thought I'd like. The food was incredible and it felt so good to be out of the rain and feasting on hot foods and drink. Seriously, every single thing I are was so so delicious. Highly recommend.
