Gilbey's Old Amersham

A wonderful restaurant. the booking is recommended to have a table. there are outside seats. the restaurant is located in the center of the old town. parking near. we ordered in the 2-course menu. all the dishes are amazing. with the 2 curses and a drink per person, it was £30 included. the service is great. personal friendly and patient.

One of the greatest pampering I ever had. gilbey was absolutely magical. her st. valentines 5 curs tasting menu was exceptional and they went beyond and beyond to make sure we had the best time! favorit court had to be the sloe gin cured breast of merrifield farm duck, but until I arrived at this cure, I was so full that I was not finished! his times as I wish I had a bigger one because eating was absolutely phenomenal! what an experience

Excellent 3 course lunch, terrine, breaded haddock and cheese cake. All beautifully prepared and presented. Slick professional service. Portions modest but fair value.

Have dined here on many occasions, however will not be returning as a recent data breach on their system almost cost me £1,500 through a fraud telephone scam. Huge amounts of stress, thankfully the bank were able to reverse the payments. When I called to speak to the restaurant the individual I spoke to seemed completely unbothered and assured me that emails had been sent to the people who may have been affected, not good enough for me I'm afraid as I never got the email. Gilbey's needs to treat customer data with more care and if they're aware of a breach and a scam, surely it would be a priority to let people know who may be affected. Exceedingly disappointing.

Had our third visit to Gilbeys and found it to be very expensive for the quality of food we received. Had to choose from a £52 set menu with surcharges for sides and steak taking it to £65 or thereabouts for steak and one side. The steak was of poor standard considering they charged extra for this, I was expecting a lovely cut of meat. Two of us had the steak and both were of the same poor quality. The set menu wasn't great for choice either with very limited selection. The room was lovely and the service was excellent from our waitress. Overall cost was £90 a head for 8 with not a lot of alcohol ordered and 3 people weren't drinking alcohol. We have decided that this will be our last visit to Gilbeys.
