Amboy Family Pizza

The restaurant is now under new family ownership and has expanded their menu. The dining experience is enjoyable and some of the same attentive waitstaff are still working there.

We went to Amboy Family Restaurant for a late lunch. Our waitress was very nice, even though it was her first day she was very helpful. However, there was another woman who was not friendly or helpful. The restaurant is your typical family restaurant, nothing special and a bit run down, but it is clean. The food was just okay. I ordered a steak sandwich that was supposed to be served on a hoagie roll, but instead, it was served on toast which was very dry. The steak itself was very thin and well-cooked, making it tough like leather. Someone at our table ordered a Colorado burger and said it was okay. Another person ordered a reuben sandwich and said it was good, although they weren't a fan of the rye bread, but that's not the restaurant's fault. The soup was good, hot, and fresh. We also ordered an appetizer of cheese curds which were delicious and served hot.

The server was very friendly, but the food was nothing special to boast about.

We have been at this restaurant before. The waitresses are wonderful, just work on the salad. They are not fresh. We like this place. Thanks.

It’s so nice we drove to get our chicken dinner then went to eat in the park down the street from the restaurant. Chicken is great and reasonable priced. We drive from Chicago to Amboy just for the chicken and the atmosphere.
