Claxon's Smokehouse And Grill - Altoona

We don't get to Altoona much, or should I say ever, but we were on the way home from Topeka and we had to stop for gas and food. So glad we did. My family and I enjoyed Claxon's. Good BBQ. Glad we stopped!

I 've been debating whether or not to go to Claxon 's, after seeing some of the reviews it got here on the ol ' Internet. I was convinced I wouldn 't go. But my wife heard from a friend it 's one of the best places to eat. So I thought why not we went and it was amazing. Service was somewhat slow but they were very kind. I had the Philly Sandwich, it was one of the best things I 've ever tasted, my wife, the ribs, I had one, it was easily the best rib I 've tasted here in this state. So please, don 't listen to the poor reviews, you have to go and experience it for yourself.

My prime rib sandwich was very delicious. It was smokey in taste and very tender. The burgers and tenderloins were out of this world. Big, thick and juicy. You could make two meals out of these. Enjoyed our dining experience. Dined at 4:30 pm on a Saturday. Great time!!!

I am so glad that Altoona has a place like Claxon's. It's nice to eat somewhere that people care about the product they make. My server was happy to answer my questions. That meant a lot to me.

Overpriced lukewarm slop! We stopped on the way home and ate at another restaurant!
