Armenhaus - Altlandsberg

Although the name “Armenhaus” is already somewhat unusual for a restaurant, in the case of Altlandsberger’s restaurant is quite historically correct, because the building was built in 1839 as homelessness and middlelessness. For this purpose, the city had to tear down a piece of the city wall at Strausberger Tor and build into the gap of this poor house. For the building base you use the field stones of the city wall, the upper floor was walled. When the city needed 1856 premises for the municipal fire brigade, the house was expanded by cultivation. Firefighters and other equipment found their place in the vaulted ground floor. Until 1965 the Armenhaus was used by the Altlandsberger fire brigade. The rooms were then rented and since 1995 the restaurant “Armenhaus” is on the ground floor. You can sit in one of the guest rooms or sit in the small beer garden in summer. Despite a completely complete house, a somewhat cramped host came quite quickly with the map that offers several dishes of German and regional cuisine. There were also some seasonal dishes ( pumpkin). The dishes are about 10 euros. Very few foods are more expensive (the top driver brings it to €15.90. Despite many guests the freshly prepared food came to the table without a long waiting period. Served on pretty, white-blue dishes. My peasant breakfast (6,90 €) has tasted well and I have become tired. The ambience is actually rustic. Unfortunately, the impression is that the restaurant has been in operation for a long time. The large white vault, today equipped with large windows instead of the former wooden doors, could once again wear a bucket of color and on one or the other corner a wall cuff with fresh plaster. Otherwise, the restaurant is clean and tidy. This also applies to the (windowless toilets, which are, however, most "dried" after disinfectants. Overall, the “Armenhaus” in Altlandsberg is worth it.

Operation was friendly, but not very attentive. You could have sold more drinks if you had come by more often. It was still early in the evening, maybe it works better if more guests are there later. The guest room is rustic and cosy, with old furniture and objects. Parking: 2 hours with parking disc. Wheelchair accessibility: Rather bad, as there are a few steps to get up in front of the restaurant.
