Goldminer's Daughter Lodge - Alta

I loved the cozy atmosphere of this charming restaurant and resort. It was nice to see them hosting community events. Watching the snow fall while relaxing in the resort area was so beautiful. The food was delicious, although I might have been extra hungry. The service was friendly and very helpful in showing me around.

The decision to close the GM Saloon is a disappointment to skiers who have been loyal to the restaurant for many years. The owners should be ashamed for not realizing the significance of this establishment to both locals and visitors at Alta.

If Alta is considered a true skier's mountain, then the Goldminer's Daughter was the trendy base lodge in the 1970s and 1980s. The place still maintains that same decor and atmosphere, although it could use some updating. It may not be ideal for families, but it's a fantastic location for dedicated skiers looking for immediate access to world-class slopes, especially this year with over 800 inches of snow. The rooms are rated 3 out of 5, service is 4 out of 5, and the location is a perfect 5 out of 5. One of the hotel's highlights is its great view.

Skiing at Alta on a beautiful sunny day in March 2023, we attempted to enjoy some apres ski at Goldminer's Daughter, which is conveniently located at the bottom of the Collins lift. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that the owners had closed the saloon to the public. Despite the lovely view of the lift, it was "hotel guests only" and there was nobody inside. It was a shame to see the fire going and the bartender ready, yet inaccessible to non-guests. The café downstairs was overcrowded and chaotic, with overwhelmed servers and no available seating. We were left with a negative impression of Goldminer's Daughter and would not recommend it. Location: 5/5
