Out of seasson, the restaurant was almost empty, and the athmosphere excellent. The waitresses were VERY nice, and used their best English with us. Only a neggard won't give some tips here! Much appreciated and reccomended.
We came to this place in order to have dinner and watch a football match. The restaurant was almost full and the menu looked attractive, so we sat and looked at the menu. We decided to start with some snails and imperiais (20cl glass of beer), we were informed that that might take a while but were served in under 15min. Unfortunately the snails, though decently sized and cooked, were rather bland which prompted us to ask for some hot sauce and even though this managed to bring the dish to life it also added an unpleasant bitter taste to the snails. After we were finished we then asked for another round of imperiais and a tray of pica-pau (small and slim slices of pork/beef served with pickles). It took around 35min for us to be served something that should take about 5min to be prepared, without previously being informed. The waiter apologized about the delay when serving us. The serving was poor in quantity (relative to the price asked), but fine in quality with good flavour and texture and a nice sauce (shame there was too little of it). Concerning the waiter, we understand that he was loaded with work which might have trigged the misinformation we received, but we also got a weird contemptuous vibe from him concerning the choices we made. Additionally we were charged for tulipas (30cl glass of beer) instead of imperiais . We were in fact served tulipas , however that was never what we had asked for.
This visit was made one week after my first reviewed experience at this place. Another football match, another visit to 'Só Grelhados '. This time around we decided to try some of their mains. We ordered 'Piano ' (pig ribs), 'Secretos ' (pig slim lardy fillets) and fried cuttlefish. The ribs were nicely grilled, the meat was tender and moist, the seasoning though was a bit flat with merely salt and lemon. The secretos , though they always taste nice thanks to the lard, disappointed a bit as the meat was chewey and didn 't melt in the mouth as it should. As for the cuttlefish it was for me, by far, the best of the evening. The crust could have used a bit more of crunch, but it wasn 't too greasy and the cuttlefish was amazingly soft. Generally speaking all the servings were pretty generous, all sided with salad, rice and french fries. The rice was nice though nothing else could be said about it; the french fries were too soft (probably the oil wasn 't hot enough) and mushy. Regarding the waiter, he surely recognized us and associated us to our previous review since we were treated quite differently than the last time around but it 's good to see improvements no matter the reasons to them. I increase my previous scoring of this restaurant based on the improved service; as for the food though the servings were generous the quality wasn 't consistent.
We have been visiting Costa da Caparica for many years and have passed the restaurant many times but not gone in. This year however we noticed it had been refurbished so decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Staff lovely and friendly, food plentiful and good. We will definitely visit again.
Peixe fresco e muito bem grelhado. Colaboradores muito simpáticos e profissionais. Recomendo
