We had a lovely lunch sitting out on the back patio. We had been before many years ago and so it was reminiscent for us.Our waitress was very busy but very friendly and attentive. We had a hard time deciding because everything sounded so good but we settled on the Special which was a Lentil/Almond burger. It was a bit messy to eat but totally worth it. Delicious from first bite to the last. Then we both ordered coffee and a butter tart. The butter tart was larger than we expected and had a thick yummy sugary crust. The coffee was good too and the waitress was by to see if we needed a refill. All in all a great experience and we would come back!
We were a group of four people and we had a short break in our schedule and wanted to try a local place for a coffee. We did not have time for lunch but were interested in seeing the menu to try it another time. The mature woman who served us was surly and once she was told that we just wanted hot drinks and some desserts, grabbed our menus back and seemed annoyed. The menu was appealing and we would have returned in an hour or two for a full meal, but I did not want to come back. She did not return to our table or offer a refill of coffee. Elora is a terrific town. Too bad this local restaurant was a disappointment. Will go elsewhere on our next visit.
Nice little restaurant with friendly and fast service. We had a variety of menu items and all were served fresh and were not lacking flavor by any means. The one item that stood out to me was the Mushroom and Swiss quiche. It was so fluffy and moist it just melted in your mouth. The only thing that stopped me from giving it an excellent rating is that there are only a couple of big tables and one small two seater in the corner. If you want a quiet meal with intimate conversation this might not be for you. If you like to meet new people and socialize then this would be a great spot.
This restaurant is a fixture in Elora, a favourite among the locals. There are many tried and true suggestions and you will always find good choices for daily specials too. A definite choice for lunch.
We stopped in Elora on our way to visit friends and just walked the street looking for a place to eat. Saw "The Desert Rose" and decided to eat lunch there. Very friendly place with large tables and a small patio out back. It was rainy and cool so we stayed indoors. The service was very friendly and helpful. The menu is full of gluten free and vegan options. My wife picked the quiche and I had mushroom soup and the "eastern" sandwich. The quiche was wonderful according to my wife and I loved the mushroom soup. The sandwich is made with wonderful bread and tasted amazing. We will stop here again next time. You need to check it out.
