The Riverside - Allerdale

We visited this pub twice during our family holiday in the beautiful lakes. It is a charming establishment with a real traditional feel. The bar staff welcomed us warmly on both visits. We enjoyed sitting in front of the cozy open fire, sipping hot chocolate and chatting with other visitors who shared stories of their walks with their dogs. If you're looking for a pub with character, look no further. We can't wait to return. Keep up the great work.

Nice bar. Lovely, warm open fire. My food was very disappointing. The chicken pie was good, but small we had been walking for five hours the lumpy mashed potato was watery, the small portion of mushy peas was dry and probably microwaved.

It's been a long time since we'd been back to the Lakes. We'd visited the Riverside the last time and not liked so how we allowed ourselves to visit again I don't know. Possibly because of the time distance and coming at it from a...different direction. The soup was far too sweet, the roll out of the freezer and burned in the heating process. The black pudding fritters were tasty but, goodness, a pop? Definitely not for us another tie around

Popped in for a quick drink and a light lunch after recommendations from others. The bar has a nice feel and an excellent range of well kept real ales. I had a cheese and pickle toastie which was tasty and excellent value for money. The...girl behind the bar was also super friendly. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the Lakes.

Have been coming to this bar for years. Haven’t been for years before this week. While the decor’s been updated the nature of it felt just the same warm and welcoming with good local beer and filling post-walk food. Love reading the...Borrowdale Fell Run winners board, the mountain weather forecast and charting with other walkers/ runners/ cyclists. It felt great to be back.
