Costa Coffee - Allerdale

The staff at this restaurant are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they work very hard. Every time I visit, I am treated like a friend, and they even remember my order, which I appreciate. The coffee here is always high quality, and my favorite drink to order is the flat white.

My husband and i visited here this afternoon as we usually do after a shop around town, and was instantly met with shouts about only one person being allowed in fair enough during covid , tho there is a polite way to approach this) , after my husband left the store and waiting correctly distanced in the que , the same dark haired lady then marched back around the counter to inform me I was not stood precisely on the covid spot marker on the floor! I was about 4 inches away and the other lady in the queue was already walking towards the counter. I have worked in coffee shops and genuine felt this lady was on some power trip over the covid regulations and this was a big put off. As I can see from previous reviews it seems to be an issue , so perhaps more training for certain staff members on their people skills and attitude should be given. Wont be coming back , Starbucks all the way !!

I visited Costa after acquiring a buy one get one free voucher on festive hot chocolates. The service was prompt and polite throughout and the hot drinks tasted great, they even accompanied them with a wrapped chocolate. I wasn’t clear on my original order and I ended up with the wrong type of milk for my partners drink. I truly appreciated the way the barista Jayne handled this. It is rare occasions like this that secure loyalty and repeat custom.

I purchased a tea and a coffee and waited for said items, as the young girl placed the coffee on the tray it looked to be complete but as she walked off I thought she said oh hold on , when she walked back she looked at the tray then myself and said is it not all there? I replied sorry yes it looks to be she then rolled her eyes at me and started to walk away, I was so mad I actually replied I 'm sorry I thought you said hold on as you were walkign off . An innocent mistake was made by myself but I think some serious manners need to be drilled into these staff! This isnt an acceptable way to treat customers!

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant due to the lack of basic communication skills. The girl at the counter was smug and unfriendly, and the assistant manageress was self-absorbed. The coffee was average and the carrot cake tasted artificial. I would not recommend this place.
