While we were immediately seated it took some time before our server arrived and offered us menus. The menu offers all the basics plus some nice specialties; good wine selection. Service was very slow; our server spent a good amount of time chatting with the bartender in the corner. We clearly caught them at a bad time; will visit again with the hope of a better experience. NOTE: this is a small venue; it gets VERY LOUD when fully occupied.
I used to eat here 1-2 times per week but I can't keep going back. They play Fox News and I can't think of anything less appetizing than watching Fox News while eating my calzone or pizza. It's a shame the pie was decent but I'll be going to Mio Nonno or NY Pizza down the street.
After reading all the reviews and the owner stating it is the most authentic New York Pizza in the region I didn't hesitate to give them a try. I ignored the photo of the less then appetizing pizza they have on Doordash. In some cases they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Tonight I should have let the picture lead me in another direction. Maybe it was an off night? Off of what I'm not sure. I'm an authentic NY raised Italian girl and when someone says authentic NY pizza I get so excited. I love anything that reminds me of home but pizza brings it home. There are quite a few pizza joints who dub themselves authentic and the few I've tried only one hit the jackpot. Oh Mama Mia. Finally. I'm a sauce snob and when I took that first bite the sauce had a very subtle sweetness, seasoned just enough and that was pretty much it. It was a simple sauce with a flavor that screamed authentic. I have to stop saying authentic. I'm just going to use it one more time. The pizza we ate tonight was nowhere near authentic. The sauce. I dipped my finger in 3 times to try and see what I could taste. Tomato sauce. If the sauce was seasoned I just couldn't find it. My husband did say he could taste garlic so there's that. Other than that the only other sauce issue was the lack of sauce they put on our pizza. The crust (edge) is what did it for me. It also told me they know how to make a good crust. Not tonight though. Off night? Oh right I have to mention the spinach pinwheel. Fresh spinach, mozzarella, garlic, and herbs rolled up in pizza dough and baked to perfection. Served with a side of Brother's signature marinara sauce. Sounds good huh? Baked to perfection? It was so over baked that all I could taste was the spinach. It was hard enough that if I threw it at my husband there'd have been a very slight chance of a very minor concussion. I do hope it was an off night as far as flavor goes. Length of cooking was off too. Vinni I do apologize but I would not claim your pizza as authentic. I truly did everything I learned to do and I just couldn't find it. I'm still hanging on to an off night. I don't like doing theses kinds of reviews but I do them because I'm a foodie, I'm honest and I'm not afraid of the backlash I always seem to get. Please remember that what I have written is my opinion and is not meant to change anyone's mind about visiting Vinni's.
Food was delicious! Service was slow and we were literally the only patrons in the restaurant. Would still return though cause honestly the food was very good.
They have ended pizza. The wood fired oven is useless. We loved the pizza! Sadness The pasta is still great. The service is still very mixed depending on when you dine and who the server is. But without pizza...we will never be back.
