Black Walnut Cafe - Allen

I just had my first visit for Sunday brunch. The dining room is very pleasant. You place your order at the counter and then find a table. There's a great selection of food and drinks. They have a bar, but since it's Texas, you can't enjoy any adult beverages until after 10:00 AM. They also have a covered patio. The food was good, featuring a big plate with chocolate chip pancakes, chorizo tacos, and a breakfast croissant in the lower left corner.

We liked Black Walnut, had been eating here for a few years now. Either sitting outside in the fall or enjoyed tall window view inside its air conditioned room on a 105° day liked today. We always received great service and excellent food. There wasn't adish we didn't like here. My favorite was Santa Fe Salad. Loved its spicy mango cilantro dressing, the chilled thiny-slicedchicken was juicy and tender every single time. Husband liked the Turkey Croissant Club, how it's served warm and flaky. Afull bar, beers, cakes and gelato were also available. Will recommend.

Ok, I spied this place a couple of weeks ago and finally got in to check it out. We had dinner, which was good but we'll be coming back for breakfast or weekend brunch for sure. We had the Mediterranean Chicken and Texas-Sized Wagyu Chicken FriedSteak. It was all really good but the Mediterranean Chicken has tons of different flavors going on. I thought the cafe wasclean, orderly and open with plenty of seating with small tables or big booths to spread out in. The deserts looked awesome, andthey have some interesting mixed drinks and wine too. Can't wait to try more at this place!

First off, the decor was lovely, and the atmosphere was fantastic. There was also an attractive party room and bar area. I was with my kids, so we opted for a booth. The gelato and cakes caught our eye, but we didn't get around to trying them. I absolutely love those soda machines that let you mix your own drinks; I’ll definitely be returning just for that! I ordered the vindaloo chicken wings as my main course, even though they’re technically a starter, and they were CRAZY spicy! The flavor was outstanding. The chicken was so tender it practically fell off the bone—definitely the most succulent wings I’ve ever had. My daughter chose the ultimate bacon cheeseburger, which came on a fluffy toasted brioche bun with a delicious artisanal mustard sauce, crisp lettuce, perfectly cooked bacon, and mouth-watering beef. The fries were fresh and light—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, despite being a shoe-string cut that can often be overcooked. My other daughter ordered chicken and waffles, and the chicken was wonderfully moist with an amazing batter. We are all excited to come back soon!

The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant, and the food is quite good, presented beautifully. There’s a bar area where you can order drinks to enjoy with your meal. Unlike typical cafes, you place your order at the counter and then pick up your food when it’s ready, making it somewhat self-serve. The Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict is fantastic, though the staff mentioned it’s only available seasonally. We also tried the healthy omelette, which was decent—nothing to complain about, but it didn’t quite match the excellence of the Benedict. Overall, I would definitely return, especially since they offer desserts that looked delicious, although I didn't get a chance to try them this time. If I had one complaint, it would be about the prices, which seem a bit high compared to other cafes. However, Walnut does offer a more refined atmosphere that is worth the cost.
