Entramos para almoçar... experimentamos o menu (alheira, costelinha, caldeirada de cabrito e feijoca, sobremesa e café .
Food was actually tasty but overall wish I had bought a sandwich from the fuel station. From the moment we sat down they were rushing us, pointing at people who had just walked in waiting for a table. We ordered quickly and then were rushed out within 15 minutes of sitting down. The bill was a surprise they charged us 4 euro for bread and olives, which we actually didn’t ask for or want but were mandatorily given. Would not go back.
DO NOT EAT HERE. Been in Portugal for 7 days and this was our first bad customer experience. We wanted a snack before our train arrived across the street at the train station. We saw the menu (posted here), and thought we 'd have the first item (bread, olives, and butter). We sat down and without asking us the waitress immediately brought us two glasses of port wine and bread and olives (no butter) with no menu. Luckily my boyfriend was wary and asked how much the refreshments cost. The waitress said it would be 3 euros for the wine, bread, and olives per person. We said we just wanted the bread and olives. She grumbled while taking the wine away and reported us to a man off to the side, who was presumably the owner. He grumbled to himself and shook his head as we ate, and watched my boyfriend as he got up to use the restroom, grumbling and shaking his head more. It was extremely uncomfortable! When we asked for the check the waitress said it would be 2 euros per person. When we disputed it, saying it didn 't say on the menu that the price was per person, the owner came by to yell at us in Portuguese, complain we used the bathroom, and in short, say no money, no eat. We paid the 4 euros and as we walked out the door the owner was outside. We can only assume he was swearing at us in Portuguese as we walked away. I 'm a fair person and if it was customary to pay for a bread basket (with no butter) and some olives per person I would happily pay 2 euros/person and leave an additional euro as a tip. But we 've been in Portugal for a week and this just felt like a SCAM.
