The service was poor and our room was basic, with outdated amenities and a small uncomfortable bed. The room was also infested with mosquitoes, requiring us to use insecticide and leave for a few hours. The restaurant served overly salty honey and soy beef ribs, and the prices were high. We had to cook our own food on a filthy BBQ that we had to clean ourselves, with no way to light it provided. This place did not make us feel welcome as paying customers.
We stayed here for a stop over towards Uluru. It's a nice setup practically in the middle of no where. The restaurant has good food including vegetarian options and the store has good supply. We had the family cabin which was comfortable for a night...stay. The effort the management/owners are putting in to run this place is commendable.
Well this stop was a tad unique. We left Yulara rather late in the day... which is not ideal because we needed to get to Alice Springs... however, my uncle wanted to climb the rock before we left. Three days and it hadn't been open......on the day we left, it opened rather late. So about 3pm, we stopped for a late lunch here. When I say lunch... well it was more an excuse for lunch. We stopped for coffee, coke and muffins. The service was really super friendly. My uncle spent most of his time talking to the staff while I sat under the hut and quietly ate my muffin. It's an interesting little place and I believe there is more on offer than first meets your eye. There was a lady discussing how she was about to start an hour long tour... not sure what that was about...but it sounded interesting. There are some aviaries here too which make a melodious background for you while you enjoy the space.
We stayed here for a couple of nights. FOOD PORTION IS A RIP OFF. Ordered a lasagne, paid 25 dollars and the salad was bigger than the portion. 2/3rds salad a a third lasagne. But biggest shout out to Trevor behind the counter. He was...the difference between my rating of poor than what I really wanted to score this place... TERRIBLE. The rooms weren't bad. They serviced a couple of times for the 4 nights we stayed. Free wifi Optus Mobile coverage. But very slow if you do have optus.
Stopped off at Curtin Springs for lunch on the way to Kings Canyon from Uluru. Great little place, great staff and service, and delicious lunch, terrific cheeseburger and the best egg and bacon sandwich, will be back on the way back to Uluru.
