While I'd rate the sushi a solid 5 stars, what surprised me was their delicious tacos! I particularly recommend the pork belly. I share the sentiment of other reviewers regarding the prices—it is on the more expensive side. However, I wouldn’t classify it as overpriced; I believe the prices reflect the quality of the food. If you’re looking for a better value, you can find decent sushi elsewhere, but it's mainly the specialty rolls that tend to be pricier. On a positive note, the house sake is a fantastic deal—enough to share while still giving you a nice buzz. I don't think I'll be a regular visitor, but when my budget allows, I’ll definitely be craving that sushi again.
This charming local sushi restaurant in Del Ray offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is welcoming and eager to provide recommendations if requested. The sushi chefs are impressive, even allowing us to taste a new creation as they were working on it. I highly recommend it for happy hour, a date night, or a quick bite after work. Be sure to try the lengua tacos, or any of their taco options!
Kaizen stands out as a distinctive sushi bar that also serves tacos, both of which are outstanding. The presentation is impressive and exceeds expectations, while the flavors are fantastic with a solid variety to choose from. I must also mention that the iced tea was exceptional—one of the best I've ever tasted. Given the high quality of the food and service, combined with its lovely location in the heart of Del Ray, Kaizen is a perfect place to enjoy an early spring evening dinner on the patio!
New favorite hangout in Del Ray. Have the whole family going there now. Been there like 3 times already over the past few weeks. So good!
The service was excellent, but the food didn't justify the high prices. The Asian-Fusion cuisine was typical for downtown Del Rey—not bad, but nothing to get excited about. The attempt at Birria Ramen featured lukewarm carne asada in a broth that tasted like it came from the grocery store. Similarly, the spicy salmon avocado roll was forgettable. Overall, I would rate the food a 3 out of 5.
