Rusticana 2 - Alcobaca

After our poor experience in 2018 we thought we would give it another go. The visit was more enjoyable and the staff a lot more friendly making it a pleasant visit. As mentioned previously the pricing on the menu is a bit unclear but the food is really good.

We used to come here regularly as a family as the owners always made us feel very welcome, the food was delicious and it was reasonably priced. With the name change it’s clearly under new ownership, the fresh fish is still excellent but was very expensive we paid €100 euros for 2 adults and a child with fresh prawns as a starter and Sea bass to share between the 3 of us. We only had Soft drinks so I would consider that quite pricey. Our waitress was friendly but other staff less so we were hurried out as it was clear they wanted the table to Accommodate others. Won’t be going back in a hurry.

Since we 've been going to Sao Martinho do Porto the restaurant has changed names 3 times, Cais, Cais 24 and Rusticana 2. The food is still good but on this visit it seemed like they were in a rush to clear each course before we 'd even finished!! Such a shame, they were not even busy, in fact there was only one other table taken. We would have normally visited it more whilst on holiday, but the 'rush approach ' put us off. This shame because the food is really good. Oh well lets see what next year brings.

I agree with the previous comment that the pricing on the menu is unclear, however, we were very happy with the final bill 59 euro for wine, appetizers and main courses. The waiting staff were excellent and there was a very happy and relaxed atmosphere. Our waiter was quite a character and we would be happy to return.

Just had lunch today. Firstly I would say that the service was excellent and very friendly. On the down side of this report is firstly there is no wine list, so it is pot luck( price wise). Secondly the clams that we had for a starter were of poor quality and not fresh. I did not complain, which is quite unusual for me, because I have known the waiter for some years. We followed up with Linguado (Dover Sole). This was fine but served with vegetables left over from yesterday( in my opinion only) otherwise they were extremely over cooked yet dry. However it has a wonderful setting yet I was somewhat surprised by our final bill of €60+ for 2 people. The choice is yours.
