We had a large family outing, nine of us in total including children, we called for drinks and cakes at this little treasure of a cafe. We all had something different and the staff couldn't have been more helpful with the children. After the cakes and beautiful teas that were on offer we got invited to look at the back of the cafe where there were some secrets to see. I'm not saying what they were...go for a look youself and see.

This is a lovely bakery and tea/coffee shop just 5 minutes or so north of Sao Bras de Alportel off of N2. You turn right where there is a forked road (Tesoureiro) with recycling bins just before you go up a bit of a hill before the little village of Alportel. We found it by accident when we were out exploring the lanes around our villa. Their pastries are delicious, I especially liked the walnut cake and drank delicious hot chocolate with it. We returned many afternoons to sit outside with our pastries, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. They also sell bottles of local liquors and other local items. One evening the owner of the bakery and hotel beside it served us a meal of tapas on their patio behind the hotel. There are lovely ponds, flower beds and a 2000 year old olive tree to look at as well.
