Wonderful scallops and our salmon selection was cooked to perfection. Sat outside, which was comfortable and the waiter was attentive.
It had been a few years since we'd been to Zocalo, but it was every bit as good as we remembered it. There were still some favorites on the menu, but some new dishes as well, and they didn't disappoint. This is the one menu among many in Charlottesville that is truly different and exciting. I had the duck breast, which was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a great sauce, braised chard and an onion and manchego bread pudding, and my wife loved her salmon. My starter, the tuna tartar, was too die for and had a healthy kick to it. Highly recommended!
Our family enjoyed the outdoor seating and the waiters did a great job of quickly pushing other tables in when it was raining out of the blue. We were under an umbrella and a big tree and didn't have to move and the rain stopped quickly. Our teenage kids weren't in many nice restaurants and they loved the creative starters, especially the homemade croutons on the Caesar salad, delicious! We all had very good meals and were too full for dessert, which is unfortunate because I have eaten the chocolate bread pudding with Baileys before and it is divine! There are so many tasty options and we enjoyed the scallops as well as the duck, key lime chicken and the flank. You can't go wrong!
