Staff are so friendly happy to take time for my very social father. I even got a chance to take a photo with Demitius, the manager grandson of Jim's on the Course. Everyone is so engaged personable, that this is the perfect restaurant for my father. Orders: California Club sandwich $17.99 comprises of a triple decker w/sliced Turkey breast, thick bacon, sliced avocado, crisp lettuce sliced tomato. For the side, I decided on minestrone soup. Soup was nice and hearty had plenty of vegetables, great flavor as well. This sandwich brought back memories of having a classic very filling sandwich with quality ingredients. A definite item to order at Jim's. Reuben- corn beef on rye with melted Swiss sauerkraut. I decided on ordering fries as a side. Nice thin slices of meat with a perfectly melted Swiss cheese. The meat was not chewy or marbled so it was easy to bite through it enjoy all the flavors this sandwich has to offer. A great place to stop by if you enjoy golfing or just want some good old fashioned conversation food.
You know, I have been eating at Jim's on the Course for years and I've never been disappointed. They are a grill and that is the standard to which I have rated them. The severs have always been friendly, the service is always acceptable and the food hearty. Their breakfast here is so good, that I rarely try anything else. Of course, I like the chicken fried steak breakfast the best and get this most of the time! My wife likes them as well, their breakfasts and salads are her favorite. Alameda has Mexican, Asian, Italian and all of the other standard ethnic offerings. Sometimes I just crave good ol' American food, and yes, add gravy please. Jim's satisfies my craving nicely. Most of the time with the Alameda weather, we dine inside. It's got an average coffee shop ambiance with lots of tables and a bar tucked into the corner. I do love the view of the golf course which transforms the place into something more than an average coffee shop. On this day, it was warm in Alameda and we were offered a table on the patio. You know, that was really nice; I think I'll have the iced tea please. Hearty American food, good service, nice ambiance at a reasonable price. What else is to want!
Visited on Saturday at 11 AM **Parking:** There was plenty of parking available, and we found a spot quickly in their lot. It was a busy sunny day, with lots of people enjoying the place. The restaurant offers ample seating both indoors and outdoors. However, if you choose to sit outside, be sure to bring a hat, as the tables lack umbrellas. The staff seemed a bit understaffed, but they were certainly working hard, darting back and forth between inside and outside. As a result, service might be slow during peak times. **Food:** Since it was our first visit, we tried a couple of specials: **SPECIAL #2 - $14.99** This included a Golden Waffle, two eggs, and a choice of four strips of bacon, four sausage links, or four sausage patties. I had my eggs scrambled, and though there seemed to be at least three eggs worth, they were just okay for my taste. I prefer my scrambled eggs to be a bit runnier, and these felt overcooked. I opted for the sausage patties, which were quite enjoyable. The waffle, however, was a highlight! It was everything I hoped it would be: thick, crispy on the outside, and slightly fluffy in the center, served warm enough for the butter to melt delightfully. A real treat! The dish also came with plenty of butter and syrup on the side, though I’m not sure if it was real maple syrup or the cheaper kind. **SPECIAL #6 - $14.99** This dish featured two pancakes, two eggs, and a choice of four strips of bacon, four sausage links, or two sausage patties. The eggs were fried perfectly, and the sausage links were salty and greasy, which made them delicious. The pancakes were soft, fluffy, and sizable, leaving us with leftovers to take home. Overall, I had a pleasant experience here. It’s easy to see how this place can be wonderful for families, given the spacious setting where kids can run around, along with the extensive selection of food options that cater to a variety of tastes.
Don't know about the rest of the menu, but the hamburger sliders basically was a frozen patty cut into 4 triangles. Not made or formed. No char flavor, pretty bland. $17.00 for that? Other than that it was a nice day. Nice outside seating, great staff and very nice helpful waitress . I guess the breakfast is their main staple.
We ordered water without ice, but what we received was water with ice. The Irish coffee that was supposed to come with whipped cream didn't include a straw, so I had to use a knife to stir the whipped cream. We repeatedly asked for our table to be wiped down, yet none of the servers seemed to care. The service was incredibly slow, and our server was not attentive at all. Please, for the sake of future customers, improve your service! This will definitely be my first and last visit.
