Handel's Homemade Ice Cream - Akron

I wanted some ice cream and decided to stop at Handle's. Their drive-thru was closed so I walked up to the window. There were not many people in line and they took my order fairly quickly. After I paid, I waited for my ice cream at another window. This helped moved the line. Again, it took no time to get my ice cream. I ordered a 2 scoop dish of cookie dough and black cherry. The dish was huge!! It's 2 1/2 scoops of deliciously good ice cream. Every bite had plenty of black cherries, cookie dough and chocolate chips in it. Handle's is right around the corner from me and is my favorite go-to spot for ice cream!!

I 've enjoyed Handel 's ice cream since I was a kid, and I still do. So I 'm disappointed to submit this review from a recent visit. I stopped on a recent Sunday evening (7/7/20202) to pick up a pint. There were about 30 40 customers there, waiting in line, mostly in groups. I was the ONLY person in line wearing a mask. This is unacceptable. This is not about your employees. I was happy to see all of the staff working safely inside the store, wearing masks and doing their best to maintain social distancing with each other while working. However, the large amount of customers not wearing masks or, in many cases, practicing social distancing, is unacceptable. They are putting other customers AND your staff at risk. It isn 't your staff 's job to enforce best practices wrt to the pandemic this is up to management. It would be unreasonable to expect your staff, most of whom are teenagers working summer jobs (and all of whom work inside the shop), to police the customer lines. This is management 's responsibility. You are responsible for assuring a safe shopping environment for your customers. Please do so.

I went to handles tonight and got a brownie sundae. Don’t even live 10 mins from there and it was completely melted no whipped cream and no brownie! Super upset about it. And I’m 8 months pregnant and crying.

Omg! The ice cream is so goooooooood!! Every flavor we have had is amazing. It is so creamy and delicious. The pints are only $4.50 and we go through a pint a week. My favorites are graham cracker central, cinnamon roll, and salted caramel truffle. We even take our puppy with us and they give him the baby cone (small vanilla ice cream cone). He loves his weekly visit here.

I love their ice cream, BUT in the winter they hardly ever have their drive thru open at this location. I always see a lot of people who get ice cream when it is freezing out (including myself). If you aren’t going to have the drive thru open at least consider faster service. Every single time I go they take forever to get the ice cream. This is extremely frustrating when it’s 20 degrees outside, and you have to stand outside and wait. A lot of the times I just won’t go if the drive thru isn’t open, which it isn’t open 98% of the time. Tonight I decided to go brave the cold and wait outside and this is the last time. Guess I won’t be going to Handels in the winter anymore since they can’t handle keeping the drive thru open in the winter.
