Chez Charracate Wine - Ajijic

We went on Saturday around 5pm made a reservation. They can accommodate around 20 people at one time. The owner Ricardo received us and had a reserved table for us two. They brought a complementary wine tasting along with an eggplant tapa. We were presented with 3 menus. One with craft beers and wines by the glass. One was for the wines by the bottle. Third menu was for their tapas of specialty cheeses and meats. We ordered a bottle of Bubbly (a Cava from Spain) and 4 orders of cheeses and meats that come with different fruits and a fresh baguette. We were very pleased with everything. Ricardo returned several times to fill our glasses. We also tried a craft beer, a Porter from Colima and a 20 year old Port! The environment is very attractive and interesting with artwork and antique pieces and all is available to buy. They hope to make regular changes in the food and wine choices in the future. My husband and I really enjoy exploring wines and don 't mind paying for new and interesting kinds. It is apparent that they care about the offerings they have and Ricardo is knowledgeable in answering your questions of where they sourced the ingredients. You won 't find the 'run of the mill ' cheap wine or beer choices here so if that 's what you are looking for, this place isn 't for you. If you enjoy trying new things, savoring specialty wines or beers then you will be pleased here. We look forward to returning next weekend.

Our recent evening, spent at Chez Charracate Wine Bar was truly the highlight of our visit to Ajijic! Excellent service! Tom and his staff friendly, knowledgeable and caring, guiding us through a myriad of delectable treats and fabulous wines!
