The all you can eat menu had little descriptions - we had to ask for the other menu in order to read descriptions of the menu items as the waitress was unable to tell us about some of the dishes. The service was just "ok" - they didn't ignore us but they weren't really attentive. The food was okay - some of the rolls weren't super tight so they fell apart. The restaurant is pretty big. Their high chairs were dirty and sticky. Tables were pretty clean though. Doubt I'd go back - rather go to Makimono or something.
Just ok. Certainly not good enough to come back. The decor and furnishings need to be updated. It is kind of dirty inside and the booths are all stained. I will say most sushi places I have eaten at are all clean and bright. The food was just ok. I usually go to the Whitby location which is a far better place to eat.
I love Sushi Mountain in Whitby. Clean bright and airy with very fresh food. The Ajax one disappointed me somewhat. Maybe I am spoiled? I think of sushi as clean and fresh food, healthy and light. I felt I was in a a bit of a dark place. Stain on the higher part of the back of the booth seat across from me, an awful lot of marked up paint on the walls, and above, huge dark cobwebs hanging from the corner of the ceiling and blinds. To my right, wood trim coming apart light coming through the hugs crack it created. The food was decent in the quality, the sushi as good as Whitby's, it was the small things such as asking for a glass with ice for my soda and the glass coming to me with ice and a third of it water, ..slightly murky water at that. The tempura shrimp amazing, the spicy tuna roll just as good too. A few items on this menu slightly different and decent in taste. Just a little harsher place, darker and somehow, meh. If you get a window seat and want sushi and are close by, then come.A reminder that Trip advisor is a forum, a place to say how you feel about a place you have visited. It's subjective. A place to tell others what you felt when there, if you liked the food, service or atmosphere. Restaurants have good days and bad. If someone gets their knickers in a knot than either clean your place up! take the advice of customers or do nothing,..it's your choice. It is your business after all. You will have to live with your choice. "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen" as the saying goes.
I have been to this establishment once and only once. I realized that this restaurant has many serious infractions that could make you very ill, or even die. This place should be closed, as you can see they have no intentions of cleaning the place, or storing food in the correct manner. I am attaching their inspection results as the public has the right to see.
4 of us were there last Sunday to celebrate my friends 59th birthday. The place is nice! We picked the Eat All You Can menu since my buddies are good eaters ~ he!he!he! One of our guest was a frequent customer of this place thus, she knew what to order. But the celebrant just ordered whatever fancied her hungry eyes & so I was left to eat a plateful of spicy salmon sushi! :)The food tasted very good especially the sushi & rolls. I loved the beef teriyaki, shrimp tempura, mango salad & beef skewers. I didn't like the fried gyoza, scallops & veggie tempura. A bit too oily for me. The only thing that I've noticed was that the servers (except the waiter) were not pleasant. They were not approachable & were not nice. I asked if I can have 2 scoops of ice cream & she said 1. But I saw the other table had 2 scoops each. Oh well, maybe she didn't hear me. I had green tea ice cream which is my fave & had the share of red beans, too. Overall, if they have pleasant waitresses, I'll give this place a 10. The price is not bad for $15.99 per head. I'll definitely come back next year!
