The restaurant is beautiful, with a clean and well-decorated interior and plenty of seating. The owner personally served us and was extremely friendly and personable. The food was delicious, with everything made on site, and you can taste the freshness. We got two full, large meals at a very reasonable price. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone in search of a tasty sandwich.
I've been wanting to try this place for some time but every time I went it wasn't opened. Well, today I went, it was open and I ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich. The server didn't wear gloves, stuck her hand in a pickle jar to get the pickles, coughed into her hands, went into the back and came back with a handful of cheese. When questioned about wearing gloves for sanitation, she said that she wasn't required to by the Health Dept. When asked if she should prepare me another sandwich while wearing gloves, I jut told her that that was ok and decided to leave. I won't return.
I had been noticing their Facebook advertisements, so when I had a bit of spare time, I made the decision to take a drive to Ajax and experience this restaurant for myself.
I have been living in Durham Region for over 8 years and had struggled to find a restaurant that offers freshly cut meat, soups, and other light options. Southside Eatery finally fulfilled that need for me. I ordered the roast beef in a medium size with a medium amount of fat, and it was cooked perfectly with the right amount of fat and was delicious. I also had the Celery soup as a side, which was creamy and served with crackers. The meal was rounded out with slaw, a slice of Dill, and some nacho chips. If you are craving a true deli-style sandwich, I highly recommend checking out Southside Eatery.
