My experience at this restaurant for a late breakfast was fantastic. We had a platter of assorted fish and pickled vegetables that was delicious and unique. The atmosphere of the market was lively and the service was both efficient and friendly.
This was a great unexpected find for someone like me who was raised on this style of food. I got one of the sausage meals, with smoked black pudding (to die for!), salads, and pirags (just like piroshki or pirukad if you’ve had them). My husband opted for a slightly safer euro hot dog with kransky, sauerkraut etc on a roll. He also enjoyed a Latvian brewed beer. I strongly recommend you give this eatery a go: So flavourful.
We were looking for a new place for breakfast and stumbled upon the Latvian lunchroom at the Adelaide Central Market. What a treat it was! We had 2 superb breakfasts: the salad platter and the 'hunter' breakfast, absolutely fantastic, packed with flavours and textures, pickled veg, potato salad, and excellent sausage, rich but fulfilling. Don't miss this little stall, inside the central market, you'll love it!
We had high hopes for the Latvian cakes, in the window they looked delicious but upon sampling they didn't taste freshly made. The lady who served us really tried, replacing our selection and explaining what it should taste like. But the coffees were good, and they have almond milk.
